Billie qualified in the top twenty in the world Open Merit for
#16 Open Trial Dog Ducks & #16 Open Trial Dog - Sheep!
May 2009...Billie received the "Pepsi" award for best stockmanship at the CKC
trial - a prize is awarded each day, we won the first day.
It is awarded by a committee made up of the the Judge (Steve Waltenburg) and the
She got lots of High in
Trial awards this year, and at the trials sponsored by the ASC of BC
this year she won a beautiful buckle - High Combined Aussie for the
weekend! She also won High Combined for Sunday - Striker won
it for Saturday, but overall Bill won the weekend!
August 23, 2010
Bill had a very successful weekend at Packleader Farms in
Gig Harbor WA. She got both her Course A sheep and duck titles, PLUS she got her
first leg on Course B Sheep - with a 2nd place finish out of 8 dogs! We had
never attempted this one before! Out of 9 runs she q'd 7 times, with 2 firsts, a
second, a third and 3 fourth place finishes, so each q' in the ribbons! The
Judges were Dana MacKenzie, Marti Parrish, Cathy Medoica and Ron Fischer.
Billie won high score aussie twice over the three days (Striker won the other
one), and on Sunday she won High in Trial with a 97.5 on arena sheep.
There was tending there as well, so that was pretty neat. Overall about 50 dogs
entered. Sheep had between 13 - 15 dogs and ducks were about 9 dogs each day -
so though we were in started the calibre of competitor was pretty high - I was
really pleased with her, especially the B course! It was a huge field, lots of
trees, lots of dips. It required a free standing pen and a settle, she did it
10: BillieDawn Barker q'on her very first advanced sheep run! and she q'd
on advanced ducks. I was thrilled. The advanced group had some pretty hot border
collies, Lynn's Striker and Lynn's Chaser, Dave Barries Fyre and Marti's
Parrish's Spin dog (aussie). She did so well. took her inside flanks like
no-bodies business! I loved our sheep run, it was so satisfying! I still can't
believe I am running advanced Jeni!! Her duck run was the same, she was so
gentle with those ducks and we had splitters, but she held it together got them
regrouped and away we went!
Sunday, July 11:
Bill, she was a star today! She won High combined for the day, and high combined
for the weekend, she got her advanced sheep title, and her open cattle title,
and one leg on advanced ducks. The ducks were not happy today, none of
them wanted to leave that back wall...Bill and I were unable to pen the ducks.
She worked them very well though, we had a splitter and she worked her little
heart out trying to keep them together. She is very gentle with the ducks, can
get right up close and just nose them forward.
HIT in arena sheep, arena cattle and stock dog sheep (Intermediate);
therefore High combined for the day, earning her HI (herding Intermediate title)
Judge Steve Waltenburg
HIT for stockdog sheep Intermediate; NQ'd on arena sheep advanced;
(we never ran cattle)
HIT stockdog sheep Intermediate (earning her SDI);
2nd place arena sheep advanced - so she has 1 leg out of 3 on her advanced!!
Overall there were about 57 dogs entered, so I am pretty happy with my little

Billie & Nancy recently hosted a Trudy Viklund clinic in Laidlaw,
BC...seems like typical spring weather with Billie trying to watch & hide from
the wind & rain at the same time!
Billie is now happy in Chilliwack, BC where she joined Nancy & Ian, & her
new best buddy Raleigh (a Shilo
Shepherd)...she's having a great time going herding & all sorts of other
wonderful things with Nancy & Raleigh! Billie is now working sheep and
going to trials...and in-between manages to keep the whole gang laughing at her antics!
I'm a little Aussie-Possum hiding in the grass!
In May 2008, Billie got a new little buddy...his name is
September 2007 - At just over a year old
Billie, along with her wonderful handler Nancy, finished the requirements for
her AHBA HRDIs herding title! ...not only that, Billie also got a leg on her HTDIs as well!
HUGE congratulations to this great pair!
September 2006 update ~ Growing rapidly….both mentally
and physically, had her on sheep in the round pen yesterday – tons of natural
instinct – no surprise there, (I got in trouble – mis-directed her when she was
doing the right thing – I sent her the wrong way – she looked at me like I was
an idiot, but did what she was told and when things went arye she gave me the I
told you so look), however, …..and best of all! she stops when asked Yippeeee!
July 2006 update ~ Nancy is such a cool "Mom"...for Billie's 3 month birthday,
Nancy and Lynn Leach (Downriver Farms) let
Billie have a little fun with Lynn's sheep...
Nancy said: "just a quick note to let you know we put Billie
on Sheep (lambs) on Saturday for the first time..Lynn was great – she had a big
old ewe in her arms for Billie to check out – I ran around like a goober
tickling sheep and Billie chased me. It was all good. Then this afternoon just
as the clinic was shutting down, Billie, me and Lizie (Lynn’s ACD) and a bunch
of lambs had some fun…then Lizie left and I pulled a lamb into the middle of the
round pen by it’s back leg a couple of times and sure enough Little Miss Bill
came into give me hand just as Lynn said she would, after that I sure didn’t
need to tickle sheep anymore – she was off and running – a few got away, she
went got them brought them back and then away she went again! She had a
blast…and it’s all on video! (Gotta work on that recall!)"
August 2006 - "... I had her in her x-pen near Lynn’s house
while Lynn and I were working Raleigh for the first time in her big field with
all her sheep….just as we are finishing up here comes the little red BEAST
streaking across the field as fast as her legs could go, ears pinned
back…totally determined to get to us – she was trying to cram her body through
the 4 x 4 page wire! She must have climbed out of that X Pen like a monkey –
it’s the same one I use for the big guy"

|"I took these photos tonight
after both dogs had a very long, fun and patient day at the Hospital with me,
they are of course everybody's favorite. Raleigh lay on the floor in front of
Mum's chair and Billie climbed all over him, Raleigh gumming her to death - they
were great, both playing quite quietly on the floor."
|| "Mum of course loved it. Later when
we went out for a ride, Billie as usual rode on Mum's lap on the chair, but she
is almost getting to big for Mum to hang on to."
Billie & Raleigh, as you can see, are best

great tug-o-war, despite the huge difference in their size, little Billie

a wonderful playmate he is for this little minx!
